Quartix Joins the Top Ten

Cambridge company short-listed for National Business Awards

A Cambridge-based company, which specialises in vehicle tracking technology, is celebrating its inclusion in one of the UK’s most prestigious and high-profile business award programmes – the 2005 National Business Awards.

Quartix, based at Wellington House in Cambridge, is one of just ten companies to have been short-listed for the ‘Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Award’ which is open to organisations with less than £10 million turnover in their last financial year. The award, which is sponsored by AXA, is designed to recognise companies that have demonstrated significant growth and innovation in their market sector, under-pinned by strong financial performance.

“Everyone is absolutely delighted to have been selected and to make the final ten is a real achievement in itself,” said Quartix director Andy Walters.

“We’re facing some stiff opposition for the top prize as household names like Friends Reunited have also been nominated in our category, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed and very much hope that we’ll be successful when we travel down to London later this year.”

Quartix’s team has already tasted success this year when it secured the Fleet World Editor’s Award and the four-year old business is now supporting over 800 British companies. Over 5,000 vehicles are using Quartix’s satellite technology tracking system, which is purpose-built to help both small and large companies reduce their vehicle running costs as well as providing accurate and detailed information that allows them to increase their productivity.

According to Walters, Quartix’s rapid progression from a small start-up organisation with a handful of employees has been due to the company’s determination to offer its customers a very simple way to cut their vehicle operating costs.

“A great many businesses still need to provide their employees with vehicles, and even if you’re managing a small fleet of vans or cars the associated costs are daunting and can quickly affect the bottom line.

“So our approach has been to develop a vehicle tracking system that’s very simple and completely focussed on helping business people to make sure their vehicles are running as efficiently as possible. We’ve developed a sophisticated vehicle tracking system but made it as a relevant and easy to use for our customers as possible.”
